about

Abby Jeanne has been an artist her entire life. While growing up in Milwaukee, WI, she was indoctrinated into the arts via a public art schooling experiment in the 90s. As a pre-teen, she was socially adopted by a Rock N Roll cafe cult, where she wrote music, painted, and started her deep infatuation with records, especially 60s pop and underground soul/rock n’ roll via the haunted jukebox that lived there. A series of family tragedies, including the loss of her sister, left Abby living in a car with her guitar, which led to her traveling overseas and carving out a music career for herself. Through it all, she is currently a New York City-based multimedia artist who has built a name for herself through not only her music, but her visual art and event throwing. After years of hustling to create DIY releases, including five 45s, Abby Jeanne is here today with a brand new single titled “That’s Where We Are”. This is the first release from Abby Jeanne on Philadelphia’s Eraserhood Sound, and features the label’s signature in-house analog synth and soul production. “That’s Where We Are” is a true sonic journey, drawing influence from funk, soul, retro pop, and psychedelia. This song has it all, with its shimmering harmonies, playful percussion, and a heavy groove the Isley Brothers would approve of. According to Abby, it is her most ambitious composition to date. When you listen to the song, it is clear that Abby Jeanne has reached new heights at her craft, as you’ll be listening to this infectious single over and over again. Keep your eyes on Abby Jeanne in the coming year, as “That’s Where We Are” is just the beginning of a new phase of her exciting, one-of-a-kind artistic career.

lyrics

These ragged streets you never known
Well they’ve been showin up
The life you thought you knew is movin on
And it's a different one

So you feel so lost and vulnerable
Cuz you're a human son
No need to run that stride it’s everything
And anything you want

That's where we are
That’s where we are
We are
And we’re never goin back

Keep growing up
Your foolish ways
Well they behind ya now
These eyes stay open wide
For sunny days
Up in the here and now

The ones you loved you lost
So stay away
From them who put you down
Ain’t got no tick ‘n’ tocks
For silly games
Cuz your a woman now

And that’s where we are (that’s where we are)
That’s where we are (that's where we are)

Winds of change are blowin
(oh)
New age quickly coming
(on)
Wings of change are
Blowin
New Age
Quickly comin
(On, On)

Yeah
That's where we are

Winds of Change are blowing
New Age
Quickly Coming
Winds of change are blowing
New Age

Canvas of dreams With open Minds
The Thought becomes a shape
Lay down those worries love
Cause it’s aligned
A synchronized Escape

The pains of Iron Age
Well leave behind
To fall in ruined space
So get that Head up high
Cuz in the end
Were living sacred grace

That’s where we are
That’s where we are

We
Aaaaare
Aaaaaare
We Aaaaaare
We aaaaaaare

Winds of change are blowing
Blowing
Blowing
Blowing

Aaaaah
Aaaaah
Aaaahhh
